Jamie Donley made his Premier League debut at the weekend, coming on as a substitute in the draw against Manchester City. Now, the youngster has revealed how he feels after the milestone moment in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt.

Tottenham have a lot of exciting young talents in their ranks, with the likes of Dane Scarlett and Alfie Devine out on loan gaining first team experience currently.

One of the most promising teenagers is still at the club with Jamie Donley earning praise throughout his time with the Spurs youth squads over the last year.

The 18-year-old has caught the eye of Ange Postecoglou in recent weeks, with the Spurs boss hinting Donley would get his chance in the first team if he continued to work hard (Football.London).

That chance did come, and perhaps sooner than expected. With injuries hitting the Spurs squad, Donley was named on the bench for the game against Manchester City last weekend, and came on for his debut with just a few minutes to spare with the North Londoners rescuing a point following Dejan Kulusevski‘s late header.

Jamie Donley wants more action after Spurs debut

Speaking after the game (via Tottenham Hotspur’s Twitter account), Donley discussed his emotions and ambitions upon making his debut for the club.

He said: “I’m obviously very happy to make my debut, but the result is the most important thing. I think we played really well second half, so it’s a good draw here.

“I’ve been through the whole academy so I just want to say thank you to everyone who has been on my journey. It’s been a ride, but obviously this is the ultimate goal and hopefully I can carry on from here.”

On the step up from youth football to the senior side, Donley added: “It’s what we aim towards. Playing well in the Under-18s and the Under-21s, then this is obviously the next step. Hopefully I can carry on getting more minutes.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I am delighted for Donley to have made his debut, and I really hope he sticks around the first team now and gets more experience this season. We didn’t get much chance to see what he can do against City, but hopefully, he will get a more substantial opportunity soon.
