Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Everton are willing to sell Tottenham target Ben Godfrey in the January transfer window.

Godfrey was seen by many as one of the best young English defenders during his time at Norwich City but his career has stagnated over the last couple of years.

The centre-back has fallen down Sean Dyche’s pecking order this season, having made just two appearances so far this season.

90 min reported at the start of November that the 25-year-old has emerged as a target for Spurs in January, with the player said to be keen to leave Goodison Park in search of regular game time.

The outlet claimed that the Lilywhites are ‘long-term admirers’ of Godfrey and have been regularly checking in on him.  It was revealed that the England international is also on the radars of Newcastle, Bournemouth, Burnley and Crystal Palace ahead of January.

Everton are willing to sell Ben Godfrey in January

Gold has now said that the Toffees would be willing to cash in on the centre-back, who they signed from Carrow Road three and a half years ago.

The journalist explains that Godfrey is not in Dyche’s plans, which is why the Goodison Park hierarchy are now ready to listen to offers for the player.

Spurs Web Opinion

Some will scoff at the idea of Spurs signing a player who is not even good enough to get into Everton’s starting eleven.

However, just because Godfrey does not fit into Dyche’s set-up, does not mean that he will not be a good fit for Postecoglou’s system, with the Englishman being quick, aggressive and good on the ball, qualities that the Australian wants in his centre-backs.
