Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has quashed the excitement of Spurs fans after Micky van de Ven’s latest social media post, with the journalist stating that nothing has changed with respect to the defender’s recovery time.

It was reported following Van de Ven’s injury that although the Dutchman did not require surgery on his hamstring, he is not expected to play again until January (Telegraph).

This came as a major blow to Spurs, with the 22-year-old’s recovery pace and his ability on the ball being central to Ange Postecoglou’s system.

Micky Van de Ven will still be out for some time

Some supporters got excited when the former Wolfsburg man posted a cryptic message on Instagram stories a couple of days ago.

The defender posted a picture of himself in action along with an hourglass emoji, thus hinting that it would not be too long before he is back out on the pitch.

However, Gold has now insisted that nothing has changed with regard to Van de Ven’s projected recovery time. The reporter stated that the expectation at Hotspur Way remains that the centre-back will not be back until the New Year.

Spurs Web Opinion

Even if Van de Ven’s recovery is swifter than expected, I do not think Ange and the coaching staff would not want to take any risks with the 22-year-old, given his importance to the side. They would exercise precaution and ease him into proceedings.
