Ange Postecoglou says Oliver Skipp is training hard and waiting for his opportunity at Tottenham this season.

Tottenham welcome Aston Villa to North London on Sunday as they look to bounce back from two straight defeats at the hands of Chelsea and Wolves.

Playing the majority of the match against nine men in the London derby and conceding two injury-time goals at Molineux has somewhat burst the balloon in N17.

Spurs had won eight and drawn two from their first ten matches of the season, but with Villa and Man City coming up, the Lilywhites will have to fight tooth and nail to avoid four defeats in a row.

With James Maddison, Yves Bissouma, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and more unavailable for the game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend, Postecoglou will need to work his magic.

With so many midfielders out, and Pape Matar Sarr picking up a knock on international duty, Postecoglou was asked about Skipp in his press conference.

He said (Football London): “Skippy has been working hard at training. He stayed back with us and did a lot of good work last couple of weeks. He’s working hard and waiting for the opportunity.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

This feels like a bit of a must-win for Tottenham, with Man City coming up next. I just don’t see anything but a Spurs defeat in that game, so a win against Villa would at least prevent the headlines of four defeats in a row for the Lilywhites.
