Speaking after an enthralling 3-3 draw against Manchester City today, Spurs captain Heung-min Son heaped praise on his teammates for the way they kept battling until the very end to snatch a point away from home.

With injuries and suspensions depleting Ange Postecoglou‘s squad, it was no surprise that many pundits and fans had written off Spurs for this visit to the Etihad.

Postecolgou once again proved his doubters wrong and stuck to the game plan, and his players put in a mightily spirited performance to come from behind twice and take a point off the Premier League champions.

Heung-min Son gave Spurs an early lead, before scoring an own goal moments later. Phil Foden and Jack Grealish put City ahead twice, but the Lilywhites never gave up, and found equalisers through Giovani Lo Celso and Dejan Kulusevski to share the spoils and put a stop to Tottenham’s losing streak.

Son is delighted with Tottenham’s resilience

Kulusevski’s goal came at the end of the regulation 90 minutes, and Son has commended the efforts of his side for getting back into the game.

He told Sky Sports (3/12/23 at 6:30 pm): “The lads haven’t given up until the last whistle and brilliant work from Brennan [Johnson], unbelievable cross inside the box and obviously Dejan [Kulusevski] doesn’t score headers usually but I’m very proud of him and he’s massive.

“I think this point will bring us so much for the season. I think it’s a huge point for the team and players’ confidence.”

On that confidence and belief, Son added: “That’s why we love football. That’s what I told the lads. Obviously, Man City are a huge, huge team and one of the best teams in the world but that’s why we love football, it happens sometimes. We kept believing until 90 minutes so I’m very very proud of the team.”

It was a valiant effort from Spurs, and the point was very well deserved after that stirring second-half display. I would have loved to have seen what we could do with a full-strength squad, but we will have to wait for the return fixture for that.
