Galatasaray’s club doctor has defended Tanguy Ndombele amid fan criticisms, and insists the Frenchman is in roughly the same condition as he was during his peak physical performance at Tottenham Hotspur.

Over the last few years, Tanguy Ndombele has come under intense scrutiny for his performances and his fitness, and rightly so. The Spurs man has never lived up to expectations in North London, and has often appeared apathetic to his worsening situation.

It was hoped he may find a new lease of life under Ange Postecoglou over the summer, but the Australian is thought to have been disappointed with the 26-year-old’s attitude. Hence, Ndombele was moved on yet again, this time for a loan spell with Galatasaray.

Things haven’t gone to plan over in Turkey, either. It was claimed recently, that Galatasaray boss Okan Buruk was losing patience with Ndombele (Fotospor). However, a ‘special meeting’ between the pair recently led to a positive outcome, it’s thought (Milliyet).

Ndombele is in normal condition right now

Ndombele vacated the field after 60 minutes of action this week in the Champions League against Manchester United, with Galatasaray fans seemingly whistling him off the field.

There have been concerns over the player’s fitness and weight since he arrived in Turkey, but Galatasaray’s club doctor insists everything is normal for Ndombele.

He told Ajansspor: “Yes, he is a little overweight, but we will reduce it. There is no exaggeration. He trained at Tottenham in this form. We have his reports from Tottenham and Napoli. This is how he weighed when he was at his fittest.”

Apparently, Ndombele is currently at 16% body fat, compared to an 11% average for professional footballers. But, he is in no worse condition than he ordinarily is at Spurs.

Spurs Web Opinion

All I can say on Ndombele’s situation is that I’m glad he is breaking into the starting lineup at Galatasaray, but only because I want him to secure a move away from Spurs as soon as possible. I’ve given up all hope of him ever working out for us.
