Alasdair Gold has revealed that Leeds United are very happy with the progress of Tottenham Hotspur loanee Joe Rodon and could look to sign him on a permanent basis in January.

Rodon has hardly put a foot wrong since his move to the Yorkshire club in the summer. He has established himself as one of Daniel Farke’s key players as Leeds look to bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking following their relegation last season.

Farke has had plenty of praise for the Welshman, who has formed a formidable partnership with Pascal Struijk. Speaking to Yorkshire Evening Post last month, the manager said that Rodon has been ‘brilliant’ since signing for the club.

Understandably, talks of a permanent deal to Leeds have started surfacing. TEAMtalk claimed last month that Spurs could ask for around £20m to part ways with him on a permanent basis.

Former Spurs and Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson also gave a potential move the seal of approval when he admitted the Championship club should look to negotiate a permanent deal for Rodon in January rather than waiting until next summer (MOT Leeds News).

Joe Rodon could move to Leeds on permanent deal

Speaking on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast, Gold believes that Rodon now sees his future away from North London.

“I think for Joe Rodon, if I’m Joe Rodon I wouldn’t even want to go back to Spurs anyway. He’s been smashing it at Leeds and I’ve no doubt they want to keep him.”

“I wouldn’t be shocked in January if they tried to set up a deal to sign him permanently whether that’s at the end of the season or something, he’s just been phenomenal for them.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I don’t see Joe Rodon having a future at Spurs, regardless of how he performs for Leeds this season. Tottenham would be happy to move him on for the right fee.

Rodon has been exceptional for Leeds so far and will need to keep up his levels to convince the club to sign him permanently. If Leeds can secure a return to the Premier League, it would be likely they would look to seal the transfer in the summer.
