Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has confirmed that rumoured Tottenham target Lloyd Kelly now faces an extended spell on the sidelines.

It has been well documented that Spurs are prioritising signing a central defender in January and Kelly is reported to be one of the names at the top of the Lilywhites’ wishlist (GiveMeSport).

The 25-year-old has a little over six months left on his contract with the Cherries (Transefermarkt) and a whole host of clubs are thus said to be watching his situation closely, including the likes of Liverpool (Football Insider), Arsenal (Tuttosport), Juventus (Fabrizio Romano) and AC Milan (TMW).

However, it was asserted by TEAMtalk a couple of weeks ago that despite the growing interest in Kelly’s services, Tottenham remain his most likely destination.

Lloyd Kelly pics up serious injury amid Spurs interest

However, Spurs’ pursuit of the centre-back might now be jeopardised after it emerged that the defender is now expected to face a lengthy spell on the treatment table.

Iraola did not say exactly how long Kelly is going to be out for, simply stating that the Englishman will be out of action for ‘some weeks’.

The Spaniard told Bournemouth’s official website: “It’s really bad news for Lloyd Kelly. He has a muscle injury that will keep him out for some weeks.

“He has been performing really well since the beginning. At centre-back, he’s done very well, on the side he’s done very well and is a very good defender.

“Obviously, you never want your best players injured, but this is happening to all the teams and we have to be ready to be solid without him and we have very good alternatives.

“The timing isn’t good with a lot of games coming up, key games for us, but we hope that nothing else happens in training and we’ll have the same squad available to us from the weekend.”

Spurs Web Opinion

This injury might end Tottenham’s interest in Kelly for January as the North London side would not want to pay a transfer fee for the centre-back without full clarity on his fitness, especially considering that he would be available on a free transfer next summer.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has said that Bournemouth have not yet given up hope of tying Tottenham target Lloyd Kelly to a new contract.

Kelly’s current deal at the Vitality Stadium ends next summer (Transfermarkt), which means that January would be the Cherries’ last chance to get a fee for the centre-back if he does not pen a new contract.

It has been suggested by various outlets over the last month that Tottenham are expected to reignite their interest in the 25-year-old in January after failing to get a deal for the player over the line last summer (GiveMeSport).

The likes of Liverpool (Football Insider) and Arsenal (Tuttosport), Juventus (Fabrizio Romano) and AC Milan (TMW) have also been credited with an interest in the Englishman over the last couple of weeks.

Potential new contract offer for Lloyd Kelly

Gold has now backed up Tottenham’s keenness in signing Kelly, stating that the Bournemouth star is seen as a good fit for Ange Postecoglou’s system, given his ability in possession and turn of pace.

However, the journalist adds that the South Coast club will make another attempt to tie the central defender down to a new contract.

Spurs Web Opinion

If contract talks with Kelly’s camp do not progress over the coming weeks, Bournemouth would be pretty tempted to cash in on the centre-back in January.

However, it is very much possible that they would decide to hang on to the player and risk losing him on a free transfer if Andoni Iraola feels that the 25-year-old is key to the Cherries’ survival hopes.

According to an update from The Standard, Lloyd Kelly could be the most viable centre-back target for Tottenham in January.

On Wednesday, The Telegraph suggested that Spurs may drop their interest in Kelly due to the centre-back’s injury owes.

It was explained that after the 25-year-old picked up a hamstring injury last weekend, there are now growing concerns at Tottenham over his fitness issues.

Lloyd Kelly may be a good target for Tottenham

However, The Standard suggest that Tottenham are still very much in the race for Kelly and are likely to get some joy if they pursue the Englishman.

They describe him as the ‘most viable’ option out of all the centre-back targets being linked with Spurs ahead of the winter window.

Spurs Web Opinion

One thing that could work in Tottneham’s favour is the fact that the club have held more of a sustained interest in Kelly over other suitors, having seemingly reached out to him over a move during the summer as well.

The Telegraph have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are expected to abandon their pursuit of Lloyd Kelly amidst the Bournemouth centre-back’s injury woes.

Various sources over the last month have backed Spurs to reignite their interest in Kelly in January after failing to get a deal for the centre-back over the line during the summer (GiveMeSport).

The Englishman’s current deal at the Vitality Stadium runs out next summer and with no indication that he is going to pen a new contract, he is alleged to be on the radar of quite a few clubs.

It has emerged over the last few weeks that Tottenham could face competition from the likes of Liverpool (Football Insider), Arsenal (Tuttosport), and Serie A duo, Juventus and AC Milan (Fabrizio Romano), for the 25-year-old’s signature.

Spurs set to walk away from injured Lloyd Kelly

However, The Telegraph have now alleged that Tottenham are likely to shift their attention to other centre-back targets owing to Kelly’s ongoing injury problems.

The report reveals that the centre-back picked up a hamstring injury last weekend, which is expected to keep him out of action for the upcoming clash against Aston Villa.

Amidst the latest development, it is asserted that concerns have developed at Spurs over Kelly’s recent fitness record.

Spurs Web Opinion

Given the number of players we have out injured, the last thing we need is another injury-prone player. So, Tottenham’s recruitment team will likely put a lot of focus on the fitness record of our January transfer targets.

Tom Barclay thinks that 25-year-old Lloyd Kelly is a more realistic transfer target for Tottenham than Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi in January.

Journalist Paolo Bargiggia said on TV Play’s La Domenica Esplosiva (as relayed by Sport Witness) recently that Tottenham are AC Milan’s main competitors for the Bournemouth centre-back.

Tottenham are set to reignite their interest in Kelly after missing out on the centre-back in the summer (GiveMeSport). The likes of Liverpool (Football Insider) and Arsenal (Tuttosport) are also said to be eyeing a move for the 25-year-old.

One more centre-back Spurs are being linked with is Marc Guehi. Daily Express reporter Ryan Taylor recently told the Spurs Chat Podcast that Tottenham Hotspur are not prepared to give up on their pursuit of Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

GiveMeSport claimed last month that Guehi is one of four defenders on Tottenham’s shortlist alongside Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly, Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah, and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Ko Itakura.

Lloyd Kelly is more realistic than Marc Guehi

Speaking on The Tottenham Way Podcast, Tom Barclay has told Tottenham Hotspur that moving for Lloyd Kelly in January is more realistic than Marc Guehi.

He said: “My understanding is that at the moment if there’s a player to come in it’s likely to be a centre-back, there have been suggestions about Marc Guehi recently. He ticks a lot of boxes but would be an expensive option.

“I see Romero and Van de Ven being the long-term pairing for the Ange Postecoglou era, so I can’t see that one personally. I’d be surprised on that one personally, but someone like Lloyd Kelly at Bournemouth who can also play at left-back makes a bit more sense.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Whilst Marc Guehi is definitely talented, he is likely to cost the club a fortune. Spurs are unlikely to get into a bidding war for the player. As of today, the Cobham graduate seems very unrealistic.

Lloyd Kelly is someone we pursued before on deadline day though. He would definitely be more attainable than Guehi in January. It might be a wiser choice to go for him, considering Romero and Van de Ven are likely to be first-choice when fit.

Journalist Paolo Bargiggia has said on TV Play’s La Domenica Esplosiva (as relayed by Sport Witness) that Tottenham Hotspur are AC Milan’s main competitors for Bournemouth centre-back Lloyd Kelly.

We at Spurs Web have relayed various reports over the last month that have backed Tottenham to reignite their interest in Kelly after missing out on the centre-back in the summer (GiveMeSport).

While the likes of Liverpool (Football Insider) and Arsenal (Tuttosport) are also said to be eyeing a move for the 25-year-old, the most serious interest appears to be coming from Italy, with Juventus and Milan both said to be exploring January moves for the defender (Fabrizio Romano).

The Englishman’s contract at the Vitality Stadium runs out next summer and it was reported a few days ago that the Rossoneri are extremely keen on landing the player and are prepared to wait until next summer to sign him on a free transfer (TMW).

AC Milan to do battle with Spurs for Lloyd Kelly

Bargiggia has now reiterated that a centre-back is at the top of Milan’s wishlist ahead of January and that the Serie A club are expected to push ahead with a move for Kelly.

He suggests that the Cherries would be willing to sell the defender for  €18m (£15.7m), given his contract situation.

However, he adds that Stefano Pioli’s men will face ‘very fierce’ competition for the centre-back, with Tottenham ‘above all’.

Spurs Web Opinion

If it is a choice between Milan and Tottenham, one would think that Kelly would much prefer moving to the North London side. The big question is whether Spurs or anyone else is prepared to pay £15m-£20m for a player who has six months left on his contract.

TuttoMercatoWeb say that AC Milan are prepared to wait until next summer to sign rumoured Tottenham target, Lloyd Kelly.

AC Milan plan on making Lloyd Kelly summer move

TMW have now offered an update on Milan’s pursuit of Kelly, stating that the Serie A club’s interest in the Bournemouth star is ‘very real’.

However, it is alleged that the Rossoneri are aware that the defender does not plan to renew his contract on the south coast and are thus prepared to wait until next summer to sign him on a free transfer.

Finally, the publication adds that Kelly is not the only centre-back on Milan’s radar, with Stefano Pioli’s men said to be also looking at alternatives, including FC Basel’s Finn van Breemen.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Bournemouth might prefer to hang on to Kelly until next summer, one would think that an offer of around £20m for a player with six months left on his contract would be too good for them to turn down.

However, it remains to be seen whether Spurs or any other side would be willing to make such an offer in January.

Bournemouth do not want to lose Lloyd Kelly

Iraola has now admitted that Kelly is one of the Cherries’ key players and that it would be a blow to lose him in January.

When asked about the centre-back’s future, the Bournemouth boss told Daily Echo: “I don’t know what will happen. I don’t want to lose him. For me, he is a very, very good player. I would say he is one of our best players and he has been playing really well for me in the games he has been available.

“He started with a small injury, but whenever he has been fit, he has been doing really well for us. I value him very highly. It’s normal that he is associated with other big clubs because I think he has a good level. Of course, I don’t want to lose him.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Given that Tottenham seemingly were not willing to pay over £20m for Kelly in the summer, it is unlikely they would bid more than that in January, given his contract situation.

I suspect Bournemouth would rather hold on to the 25-year-old if they feel his staying would significantly improve their chances of preserving their Premier League status.

Football Insider report that Mauricio Pochettino has opened the door to Trevoh Chalobah’s Chelsea exit, and despite their bitter rivalry a deal could benefit both Spurs and the Blues.

Chelsea are said to be keen to raise some funds from player sales in January, and both Tottenham and Bayern Munich are taking a look at the central defender.

Football Insider recently revealed that the same three centre-backs that were on Tottenham’s shortlist in the summer, remain the North London club’s top targets ahead of the January transfer window.

Over the last couple of weeks, multiple outlets have reported that signing a centre-back is one of Ange Postecoglou’s top priorities in January.

This includes an update by GiveMeSport on October 26, which named Lloyd Kelly, Trevoh Chalobah, Marc Guehi and Ko Itakura as the Lilywhites’ top targets.

Last week, 90 min also backed up Tottenham’s interest in Kelly and Chalobah and asserted that Tosin Adarabioyo and Uruguayan sensation Sebastian Caceres are also on the club’s radar.

Chelsea

Tottenham are still looking at Trevoh Chalobah

However, Football Insider have now claimed that Postecoglou’s men are still looking at the same three centre-backs they did in the summer, which includes Adarabioyo and Kelly.

The report adds that the other player that Spurs are eyeing is Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba, who was allegedly their number-one target before they signed Micky van de Ven.

The publication alleges that even though Tapsoba signed a new long-term contract at the Bay Arena in June, Tottenham have not given up hope of securing the Burkina Faso international’s services.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do wonder if the injury to Van de Ven (which looks like a long-term one) would have an impact on which centre-back Spurs pursue in January.

The club might have perhaps been leaning towards signing a backup option like Adarabioyo but may now realise the importance of spending significantly on another relatively big name like Tapsoba or Guehi.

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth says AC Milan and Juventus are the clubs who have shown the most interest in signing rumoured Tottenham target Lloyd Kelly so far this season.

A couple of weeks ago, we relayed an update from Fabrizio Romano who claimed that Milan and Juventus had also entered the race for Kelly’s signature ahead of January.

Last week, Football Insider stated that Spurs are now also expected to face competition from Liverpool for the Bournemouth star. It was explained that the Reds want to sign a versatile defender and Kelly’s ability to play at centre-back and left-back appeals to Jurgen Klopp’s men.

A few days ago, TEAMtalk claimed that Tottenham are still Kelly’s most likely destination if the centre-back does leave Bournemouth in January.

However, the outlet stated that the Cherries want to keep hold of the centre-back even though his contract runs out next summer as they see him as being crucial to their chances of preserving their Premier League status.

Tottenham could face lots of competition for Kelly

Sheth has now asserted that it is Milan and Juve who are the most serious about signing Kelly, suggesting that the 25-year-old could follow in Fikayo Tomori’s footsteps by moving to Italy.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “The ones that are really quite serious at this stage are AC Milan and Juventus. AC Milan had scouts watching Lloyd Kelly. Even their technical director went to personally watch Lloyd Kelly as well.

“The Italian clubs, in recent history, have got this habit of going to the English clubs and bringing them to Serie A to offer them Champions League football and regular first-team football.

“The likes of Fikayo Tomori went from Chelsea to AC Milan, and he has gone from strength to strength. What an advert he would be to other English players who were deciding whether to stay in England or go to the Italian league.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Kelly’s contract situation is likely the main reason behind Juve’s and Milan’s interest, with both clubs potentially eyeing a free transfer. The 25-year-old would be allowed to sign a pre-contract agreement with non-English clubs from January.

However, the likes of Tottenham and Liverpool will offer him a chance to remain in England, which one would assume would be the Bournemouth star’s top preference.

Football Insider have claimed that it would take an offer of £25m-£30m to convince Bournemouth to part ways with Tottenham target Lloyd Kelly in January.

It has been widely reported over the past few weeks that Kelly remains at the top of Tottenham’s centre-back wishlist ahead of January after the North London club’s failed move for the Cherries star in the summer (GiveMeSport).

However, two weeks ago, Fabrizio Romano revealed that AC Milan and Juventus also have their eye on the 25-year-old while TEAMtalk reported last week that Liverpool and Newcastle United could also challenge the Lilywhites for the centre-back’s signature.

Lloyd Kelly will not come cheap for Tottenham

Even though Kelly’s current contract at the Vitality Stadium runs out next summer, Football Insider have now claimed that the centre-back would cost £25m-£30m in January.

The report says that while Andoni Iraola’s men want to hold on to the player, such a figure would be ‘too good’ for them to turn down.

Finally, the publication asserts that it looks set to be a ‘head-to-head’ battle between Liverpool and Tottenham for Kelly’s signature in January.

Spurs Web Opinion

It remains to be seen if any club would pay £25m-£30m for Kelly in January rather than signing him on a free transfer next summer. The only reason they might be tempted to do so is due to the increased competition they will face in the summer.

Tuttosport have now named Arsenal as one of the leading contenders to win the race for rumoured Tottenham target Lloyd Kelly.

Various outlets over the last few weeks have revealed that Spurs are continuing to keep close tabs on Kelly after failing to get a deal for the centre-back over the line during the summer transfer window (GiveMeSport).

Last week, Fabrizio Romano revealed that AC Milan and Juventus had entered the race for the 25-year-old’s signature while Football Insider reported a couple of days ago that Liverpool had also set their sights on the player ahead of January.

Arsenal enter race for Spurs target Lloyd Kelly

If TuttoSport’s latest update is to be believed, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund have also joined the long list of clubs vying for Kelly’s signature.

The report primarily focuses on Juve’s interest in the Bournemouth man, stating that the Englishman ticks several boxes for the Old Lady since he is left-footed, his contract situation and his ‘very affordable’ salary.

However, the publication adds that the Serie A giants face plenty of competition from the Premier League for Kelly’s signature, with Arsenal and Liverpool ‘above all’.

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs might be able to make a persuasive case to Kelly that he is more likely to get regular games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium than he would at Arsenal or Liverpool.

However, my suspicion is that Bournemouth will want to hold on to the 25-year-old until next summer in order to give themselves the best chance of surviving in the Premier League.

Last week, we relayed an update from Fabrizio Romano who claimed that AC Milan and Juventus had also entered the race for Kelly’s signature.

On Monday, Football Insider stated that Spurs are now also expected to face competition from Liverpool for the Bournemouth star.

It was explained that the Reds want to sign a versatile defender and Kelly’s ability to play at centre-back and left-back appeals to Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Spurs are at the front of the queue for Lloyd Kelly

TEAMtalk have now asserted that Tottenham hold ‘the best chance’ of winning the race for the 25-year-old in January. The outlet states that Spurs are Kelly’s ‘most favoured destination’ if he is to leave the Vitality Stadium during the winter.

However, it is explained that the Cherries intend to remain stubborn and hold on to the centre-back until his contract runs out next summer.

This is because the South Coast club have decided that it would be too risky to sell Kelly in January as he is too important in their fight to avoid relegation.

Spurs Web Opinion

Preserving their Premier League status is worth far more for Bournemouth than the few million they would lose out on by not selling Kelly in January. So, Andoni Iraola’s side are not likely to budge in January unless Spurs or any of the other suitors make a ridiculous offer for the centre-back.

Liverpool enter race with Spurs for Lloyd Kelly

Football Insider have now named Liverpool as Spurs’ main competitor for Kelly’s signature in January.

The report states that Jurgen Klopp’s men are keen on signing a versatile defender in the winter and have now identified the Cherries star as a target.

It is alleged that Kelly’s ability to play at centre-back and left-back appeals to the Merseyside club, who are said to be aware that there is ‘huge interest’ in the player across the Premier League.

Spurs Web Opinion

Bournemouth’s preference would be to hang on to Kelly as preserving their top-flight status would be the South Coast club’s priority.

However, the centre-back’s head might be turned by the interest and it remains to be seen if the Cherries would want to keep hold of an unhappy player.

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to dip into the transfer market to sign a new left-sided central defender once the window re-opens in January following Micky van de Ven’s injury, according to the Evening Standard.

Ange Postecoglou received a huge blow on Monday evening when the Dutch international was injured during the 4-1 defeat to Chelsea at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after he was caught in a sprint with Nicolas Jackson and went to the ground clutching the back of his leg in an apparent hamstring injury.

The 22-year-old looked to be in some discomfort after suffering the injury in first-half stoppage time and had to be helped back to the dressing room with the assistance of two members of the club’s medical staff.

Bournemouth braced for Kelly approach from Spurs

Tottenham now face a wait on the extent of van de Ven’s injury and the report claims that they could focus their attention back on Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly.

Bournemouth are bracing themselves for a fresh approach from the North Londoners in January after they showed an interest in the 25-year-old.

Kelly is out of contract on the south coast at the end of the current campaign and should be available for a lower fee with Bournemouth risking the player walking away as a free agent unless they wish to recoup some money in January.

Tottenham coach Matt Wells, who is responsible for the defensive element of the squad worked with Kelly during his time at Bournemouth while Scott Parker was in charge.

Postecoglou admitted after the Chelsea match that van de Ven’s injury looks to be significant, he told Football.London: “It’s too early. With Micky it’s a pretty significant one.”

SpursWeb Opinion

Micky van de Ven’s injury is a disaster for Spurs given the huge reliance on the Dutchman’s pace to play such a high defensive line, and with respect to the likes of Eric Dier and Ben Davies, they would massively struggle to cope with the constant threat of pacey strikers running in behind over the course of a game.

Kelly would count as a homegrown player and considering his contract is coming to an end, it makes it a no-brainer to bring him in as soon as the window opens.

Tottenham Hotspur are in desperate need of a new centre-back after the injury to Micky van de Ven, and it appears the club has three familiar names on their shortlist ahead of the January transfer window – Lloyd Kelly, Edmond Tapsoba, and Tosin Adarabioyo.

Signing a new defender over the summer was a key priority for Spurs, who were looking to remedy a backline which had conceded 63 goals in the league last season.

Despite speculation linking the North London side with a whole host of targets, Ange Postecoglou eventually landed on Micky van de Ven. After the first ten games of the season, that decision looked to be a masterstroke, with the Dutchman proving to be a hit.

Van de Ven and Cristian Romero instantly established a formidable partnership at the back as Spurs remained unbeaten at the start of the campaign, but Monday’s game against Chelsea brought all that crashing down.

Romero received a red card and will now miss the next three games, while van de Ven picked up what Postecoglou has described as a ‘significant’ hamstring injury (Football.London).

Who will Spurs sign in January?

Suffice to say, Tottenham will now need to reinforce their defensive options in January, and according to sources at Football Insider, the club will look at three centre-backs they considered signing over the summer.

It is thought Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly, Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba, and Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo are on Tottenham’s three-man shortlist for January. All three were linked with the Lilywhites previously, and it seems that interest has not gone away.

Spurs Web Opinion

If it were up to me, I’d go for Edmond Tapsoba, but he will definitely be the most expensive option. Lloyd Kelly is the more realistic option, and he is a very good defender who is comfortable on the ball. As for Adarabioyo, I do like him, but his fitness issues are a concern.

Calciomercato.it have indicated that AC Milan are pulling out all the stops to beat Tottenham Hotspur to Bournemouth centre-back Lloyd Kelly.

The speculation linking Kelly with a move to Spurs has intensified recently, with GiveMeSport reporting a couple of weeks ago that the North London club have made ‘detailed checks’ on the Cherries star ahead of January.

Last week, 90 min also named the 25-year-old as one of the central defenders at the top of Tottenham’s wishlist ahead of January.

However, a few days ago Fabrizio Romano revealed that Kelly had also emerged as a target for Milan and Juventus, with the Serie A sides viewing the Englishman as an ‘interesting’ option since his contract runs out next summer.

AC Milan are pushing to sign Lloyd Kelly

Calciomercato.it have now provided an update on Milan’s pursuit of Kelly, explaining that technical director Geoffrey Moncada has personally flown to England to watch the centre-back in action this season.

It is said that the Rossoneri do not expect the deal to be straightforward as Bournemouth do not wish to let the defender leave midway into the season.

Further, the report adds that Milan face competition from Spurs, who have ‘not let go of Kelly’ after failing to sign him in the summer while Juventus and Liverpool are also said to be eyeing the player.

The publication adds that Stefano Pioli’s side are not prepared to give up on the Bournemouth star and are now ‘strongly pressing’ for his services.

Spurs Web Opinion

By the sounds of it, it appears as if Bournemouth do not mind hanging on to Kelly until next summer and losing him on a free. That makes sense, given that preserving their Premier League status would be the Cherries’ number one priority.

Spurs are looking at Adarabioyo and Caceres

90 min have now backed up Spurs’ interest in both Kelly and Chalobah, stating that the North London club are likely to return with an offer for the Cherries star after seeing their bid turned down in January.

In addition to those two, it is alleged that another English centre-back in the form of Adarabioyo is also being watched by Postecoglou’s men.

Finally, the publication adds that Caceres has also caught the eye of Tottenham, with the club said to be impressed by the Uruguay international’s recent displays.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Eric Dier leaves Spurs in January, which looks like an increasingly likely possibility, I expect the club to sign two central defenders during the window.

Bournemouth do not want to sell Lloyd Kelly

It has now been reported by talkSPORT that signing a centre-back is a priority for Ange Postecoglou’s men in January and that Kelly remains one of the names on their radar.

However, it is explained that Bournemouth would rather risk losing Kelly for nothing next summer than put their Premier League status in jeopardy by selling him in the upcoming window.

The outlet adds that the centre-back also has admirers at Liverpool and Newcastle United.

Spurs Web Opinion

One can understand why Bournemouth would take that stance as preserving their Premier League status is worth a lot more than the loss of a few million on Kelly by holding on to him until the summer.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have competition to contend with from AC Milan and Juventus for Bournemouth centre-back Lloyd Kelly.

It was reported by The Athletic on transfer deadline day this summer that Spurs had made an offer of £20m for Kelly, which was turned down by Bournemouth.

The outlet explained that the Cherries were reluctant to let the defender leave so late in the window since they did not have time to bring in a suitable replacement.

Since then, multiple sources, including Matt Barlow (Daily Mail) and Dean Jones (GiveMeSport), have claimed that Tottenham could reignite their interest in the 25-year-old when the transfer window reopens in January, with the player’s current deal at the Vitality Stadium running out next summer.

Juve and Milan enter the race for Lloyd Kelly

However, Romano has now taken to social media to state that the Bournemouth star has emerged as a target for both Juve and Milan.

The journalist states that while the Rossoneri see the English centre-back as an ‘interesting’ option, the Old Lady have also asked to be kept informed of the player’s situation.

Finally, Romano adds that the Cherries have no option to extend Kelly’s current contract which runs out in 2024.

Spurs Web Opinion

Kelly would be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with a non-English club in January. Juve and Milan might have already reached out to the defender’s representatives regarding the same.

Bournemouth would prefer to sell him for a small fee in January over losing him for nothing next summer but I wonder if the centre-back might be put off from joining Spurs due to fears of a lack of game time at N17.
