Eric Dier has praised Ryan Sessegnon for the hard work that he is putting in behind the scenes to return to action as soon as possible.

Injuries have prevented Sessegnon from fulfilling his potential at Tottenham, with the youngster having a number of spells on the sidelines since making the switch to the club back in 2019.

The 23-year-old might have been hoping to impress Ange Postecoglou in pre-season but his hopes were dashed when he picked up another hamstring injury at the start of July and subsequently had to undergo surgery.

Postecoglou told Football London last month that the former Fulham man has been working extremely hard in the gym, admitting that the last few months have been ‘tough’ for the left-back.

Ryan Sessegnon is working hard behind the scenes

No time frame has been given by the club for Sessegnon’s return but with the whole host of injuries that Spurs are dealing at the moment, Postecoglou could certainly do with more bodies, with the Australian being forced to name two goalkeepers on the bench against Aston Villa.

Dier has now praised Sessegnon on his Instagram stories, with his caption reading: “Always working hard in silence”.

Even if Sessegnon recovers over the coming weeks, he is not likely to get a start unless there are injuries to both Destiny Udogie and Ben Davies. The 23-year-old might have already played his final game for Spurs as I would not be surprised if the club offloaded him in January.
