Here’s how we rated the Spurs players following the opening forty-five minutes of action in this afternoon’s Premier League clash against Aston Villa at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Ange Postecoglou’s side head into the break currently level at 1-1.

Guglielmo Vicario: Aside from watching Watkins’ header go into his net and later ruled offside, has not been tested until he had to clear the ball deep into injury time. 6.

Pedro Porro: Played a beautiful ball over the top for Udogie’s early chance and followed it up with another soon after to release Johnson down the right. Had a good opportunity to square to Son for what looked to be a tap-in but his pass was intercepted.  Fortunate with an error just before the break. 7.

Emerson Royal: Operating as a central defender ahead of Dier.  Did well to bail out Porro’s loss of possession in injury time. 6.

Ben Davies: Has done well in possession, thankfully Watkins and Diaby have not tested his pace. 6.

Destiny Udogie: Had the first clear chance of the game when he fired over the bar, has tried to get forward whenever possible. 7.

Rodrigo Bentancur: His first start since his ACL injury and has had some nice touches on the ball, his passing has been impressive. Forced off just after the half hour mark as a result of Cash’s disgraceful tackle with what appears to be an ankle problem. 7.

Bryan Gil

Bryan Gil: A first start for the Spaniard since January.  Inches away from providing an assist when he played a beautiful cross which nearly met the head of Son, has provided some natural width to the left. 6.

Giovani Lo Celso: Has looked very tidy on the ball.  Opened the scoring with a thunderous hit which took a deflection off Carlos’ thigh. 7.

Dejan Kulusevski: Will be kicking himself for doing everything right but saw his shot come back off the post, when it looked easier to score.  Was unlucky with a second effort later on in the game. 7.

Heung-min Son: If he were an inch taller, he would have scored from Gil’s cross.  Also saw an effort ruled offside. 6.

Brennan Johnson: Spurs need to use him as more of an outlet, his pace saw him breeze past Digne. 6.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg: Came on as a replacement for Bentancur. 6.
